There has been tons of progress with the Big and Little Crochet throw making. I've managed to work together my first 13 hexagons and have completed all of the hexagons and half hexagons to date. I'm pretty sure we'll be getting some instruction on how to piece more together and we should have a good third of the throw completed. It's going to be a beautiful piece when it's done and I've thoroughly enjoyed working on it so far.

I've really returned to crochet as my first love in terms of crafting. Papercraft took over fo...

On our You Tube channel today we have a cute simple little star pattern which you could use to make decorations for a home made style tree this year.

It's a versatile little decoration. Why not give it a go?

I had a lovely influx of Big and Little Crochet books recently, receiving a free revised copy of book 4 (due to the pattern error in the original), my free book which was number 5 and my scheduled copies numbers 6 and 7. I also received more rose and slate yarn to work on more projects and a new colour was introduced with book 7, a kind of teal shade called Petrol. It's a gorgeous colour.

On top of all this I received a free gift of a little plastic container with all of the tools you need to crochet (besides hooks and...

Today I've uploaded a video tutorial showing how to make this gorgeous lantern holder. The one I make in the video is perfectly sized for a Bon Maman preserve jar, which could hold a battery tea light or fairy lights or a real tea light or even be filled with wax and wicked. Just be careful of where you are hanging it if you are using real flame and also make sure that the handle is longer so that the flame is further away from the branch that the whole thing is suspended from.

I used a 3.5mm hook and Drops 100% recycle...

I've uploaded a really easy to follow tutorial on how to make these super cute, super easy little flowers on our You Tube channel please CLICK HERE to go to that video.. Perfect to pop into vases or pots and to bring out each Spring, especially if the season itself doesn't want to appear on schedule.

I used Drops 100%  cotton DK for these and found it a little less chunky than a normal DK but it's perfect on a small hook, I'd go no larger than a 4 with it, the label recommends up to 3.5 but it does crochet well on a 4.

Hmmm I quite like the Big and Little thing that's going on as a new subscription but Hachette need to sort out this pattern issue or else its not going to make it to the end of the series. First of all pattern 2 for the first throw hexagon had a problem and an apology had to be issued with a revised pattern. Then in issue 4 the wrong pattern altogether was printed in the book... the pattern for number 3 was printed which by the way had been printed wrongly in book 3 requiring an insert with the right pattern to be incl...

I thought I'd share my thoughts on Big and Little Crochet the new subscription crochet series from Hachette Partworks.

I've waited for my delivery patiently and been worried by some pretty negative reviews but as you'll see I'm quite happy with it and think it's good value... but go and watch for the full details.

I also have a little crochet along test of one of the motif patterns for the throw which you will make eventually as you use the materials and pattern in each of the books as they arrive.

There are useful free...

This is a cute little project with a tutorial on how to make the hearts (small and large) over on our You Tube channel. Just CLICK HERE to go there now.

I bought these vibrant coloured DK Acrylic yarns from a local department store for just over £1 per 100gms and they are really fabulous and look great all together.

This garland/bunting could be used to decorate a room or office, to hang out in the garden or each heart used as an applique for any other project, crocheted or otherwise.

Great for Valentine's Day which is fa...

I had a real blitz of paper craft projects to bring in the new year which I blogged about on my paper craft blog at and also shared as tutorials on the Crafty Little Things UK You Tube Channel. I've embedded my favourite project here and included a gallery of the other projects below.

I thought I'd do a round up here as some of them will be used to package Crafty Little Things products in 2018 and some may even make it into our store as products so you might want to take a look. This week I'm sh...

Sadly a few days ago my 18 year old nephew Ben passed away due to complications arising from undiagnosed diabetes. Ben's last Facebook status was an appeal to everyone he knew to help him collect up items for the homeless through his involvement with a local community group. As he didn't get to finish this work which mattered so much to him, we as a family have carried on what Ben started and my contribution included making a pile of simple beanie hats to donate, using up yarn left over from other projects and the scra...
