The Joy Of Sets Ruby July challenge

July 5, 2017

I love a good card making challenge... one reason is that I love to participate in the craft community of like minded wonderful people but also because I am a real novice/amateur/not very good* card maker and I'm determined to improve.  Challenges help me do that by forcing me to think and create a card that I'm semi happy to put out there into the world.

(*take your pick)

So the wonderful Joy of Sets Facebook group (join if you haven't already if you're a Stampin' Up! product user or demo) is right up my street. It's all about challenges. The monthly challenge which I've blogged about before is based on a gem stone and this month  the stone for July is the beautiful red ruby.

Now we're not meant to adorn our cards with rubies but do something along the theme. So I chose this super simple yet I think elegant thank you card.

It uses a Kraft card base and then a layer of Real Red card stock (the ruby bit fulfilled I hope) and then a Whisper White sentiment stamped and punched using the Label Me Pretty bundle and Basic Black ink which sits on top of a piece of 3/8 inch Basic Black Shimmer ribbon.

It's a tent fold (is that what it's called?) and is 4 x 3 inches, so nice and dinky enough to fit a few into a pack but big enough to get the message across. I also used up some retired Real Red envelope paper and made an envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

Everything is linked below for your information in case it's blown your socks off so much that you want to recreate it.

I continue to try!
