I'm so excited to have the Crafty Little Things Stampin' Up Christmas Cheer Charity Event Registered and to have announced it to my Crafty Little Blog readers. You can go and check that out by clicking here.
I'm so excited about this event and have arranged a fun speed challenge which should see us make a good 100+ cards to add to the UK challenge target of 10,000 cards made over one 3 day period in December by UK card makers in events led by Stampin' Up! demonstrators.
My event sees a mash up of traditional and modern by bringing together participants in person around the Crafty Little Things craft table and virtually via Skype links. I think this represents how crafting is today with so much shared online and kind of fits for me with the Stampin' Up! online only sales model. We have a 15 minute window to see who can make the most cards using a specific set of components to one pattern and the winner will get a beautiful hand made prize and certificate from Crafty Little Things.
We have tested out hosting 2 simultaneous Skype links and not only having them live in the room of in-person crafters but projecting them onto the walls of the Crafty Little Things Craft Room so that we can all see each other and feel like we are in the challenge together even though we may be quite far apart in terms of geography.
The Skype link idea also allows us to include people who may be isolated and house bound and also encourages the person on the call to invite friends around to join in too, giving us more card making power.
Our card design is yet to be finalised although one things is for sure, it has to be simple and something which can be easily made by gluing a few components together. So we know there will be a card base, a mat, a sentiment an embellishment and an envelope.
I'm going to be sharing a couple of examples on the special Facebook group which has been set up for event hosts and seeing what other people think of them and also on my blog and social media to arrive at a final design by the end of October when sign up for our particular event closes. So watch out for that.
All products used will be Stampin' Up! of course.
For me this is kind of an amalgamation of my different skills as it allows me to bring crafting, technology and teaching/instructing together, 3 of my biggest passions. I love to inspire and share and I love to give back something to the world in recognition of the many blessings I have as an individual so all of that is taken care of too in this challenge and really gives me a sense of fulfilment before we even begin.
You know when you just have a good vibe about something? Yes? Well I've got it about this.
Thanks for dropping in and I would love to hear about any crafty charitable things you are up to this Christmas. As a company we do make donations of products to charity and so do contact us if you think we may be able to offer your charitable cause a non-monetary gift which could help you to make money for a good cause. Of course we have a limit on what we can do but all requests are considered carefully and responded to.
