This post is going to tell you all you need to know about earning a living through crafting.
If you love crafting, are good at it and want to start making money, or more money from it or even If you're not good at crafting but have seen an opportunity to make money within the craft industry then there are a few things you should consider.
First of all these is what is earning a living? What does that mean to YOU?
It can mean very different things to different people, for some earning a living is literally earning the money to stay alive, to feed themselves and keep a roof over their head, or that of themselves and their family. For others it's about topping up an income to improve a living, either topping up their own or their partner's or both's earnings to enable them to meet the basic essentials of life and for others it's about improving quality of life by topping up by adding in some luxury or non-essential factors like holidays and nice cars. For some earning a living can equate to a modest amount of money and some it can be a much higher sum.
It depends very much on individual circumstance, expectation, life style choices and where you live. What may be a modest income in one part of the world could be a fortune somewhere else.
So the first thing to do is figure out what do you consider the amount you need to earn to be able to say to yourself that you are earning a living. No matter your craft whether it is candle making, crochet, interiors, jewellery, paper craft, clothing, cake making or selling art and craft supplies there is potential to make a living from it.,
That's it, that's all you need to know...earning a living through crafting is possible. Whatever the craft is and whatever you consider a living to be... it is possible. It's possible because when you make it a goal, like any other goal, achieving it depends on a few key things:
2. Hard work
5. A bit of luck - but then you can make your own luck
We are all capable of these 5 things. What matters is how much effort we are prepared to put into them. A little and we could earn some money. A bit more and we could make a modest living. A bit more and we could make a better living. A lot and we could make a very comfortable living. It's there to be made.
Many huge brands were once handcrafted businesses run from a spare room by a person with determination, who was willing to work hard and consistently in terms of customer service and product quality, who built a customer and supplier base through good communications and who took opportunities that arose to build her/his brand.
Determine what you want and go get it... it's right there within your reach.
